Our January cover star, Money Badoo is ready for what’s next
By Otsile Mokotong, for SA Creatives
In a male dominated industry, Money Badoo has proven to us that she cannot only hang with the boys but she’ll also give them a run for their coins.
In partnership with Nando’s Creativity, we at SA Creatives would like to introduce rapper, singer and songwriter Jade Alves, also known by her alias Money Badoo as the face of our January Monthly cover. The femcee shares with us how her creativity extends further than just music as she introduces us to a grunge romance filled with comfort, versatility and sensuality. Following the release of her debut album, Porn$tar, Money Badoo shares a side of herself that is honest and vulnerable.
When you think about it, women are inherently the best vehicle for a full range of complicated, multi-dimensional, emotional depth from love to hatred and everything else in between, which is really what is required from a leading role in today’s music industry. Inspired by her inner feelings and the experience of life, Money Badoo has proven to be a liberated and layered woman navigating the various realities of relationships and self-empowerment with this latest project.
It’s interesting to see how Money has  reclaimed her own sexual objectification through music and creativity. Porn$tar observes Money stepping outside the tough girl trap bubble and singing tenderly about friendship, love, and personal development. Its own particular and freeing rebellion is to respond to her experiences of slut shaming, patronization, and patriarchy by taking a double-downed stance toward traditionally feminine characteristics of softness and sensitivity. She may be tough and forceful, as she often is in her songs, but she isn’t there to be constrained or shaped by her experiences.
Having started her music career writing poetry and rap in 2016, Money Badoo feeds her creativity by writing and recording music on a daily. However, Money has recently been discovering new and diverse aspects of herself,  and aside from her music she explores her creativity through other mediums such as creative directing, photography and styling. This month we uncover the mystery of the young creative by allowing her to showcase her most authentic self for a photoshoot.
As a lover of unorthodox creativity, Money’s eccentric style and great eye for detail is what brought her to the forefront of what we consider an innovative creative in South Africa.
Her flamboyant and vibrant personal style is captured perfectly in a photoset that emulates her personality so perfectly. The hitmaker brings us along for a journey into the futuristic Utopia that is Money Badoo,  inspired by physical, digital and space exploration aesthetics. It is clear that Money enjoys expressing herself through fashion as she experiments with what it means to be a divinely authentic and creative woman.
